RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM

Arise Addiction Recovery Inc. provides residential treatment for men struggling with addiction. Those in this program learn structure, discipline and hard work while they study God's Word and apply it to their lives. Our goal is not only to help people find freedom from addiction, but to help re-establish them in their community as effective members of their families, employees and friends.

Arise Residential is a one-year program including:
  • One-month Probationary Phase -
    • 1st phase is a probationary phase, the main objective is to help men become grounded in their relationship with Christ. Every man will be given an Introduction to Discipleship packet that they must complete, this is one of the foundations for the Arise program. While in 1st phase this packet and each individual's personal relationship with Christ is priority. The men will participate in various work projects from 9 am - 4 pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) which help offset the cost of the program. They learn skills and work ethic through this time (See phase 2 for more work project information).
    • No outgoing or incoming phone calls during 1st phase. No visits will be allowed during this phase. Incoming and outgoing mail is allowed with approved contacts. After 30 days and packet completion, each man will be  individually evaluated to determine if they are prepared to enter into 2nd phase.
  • Four-month Second Phase
    • The purpose of Phase 2 is to instill in the men the value of accountability, unity, teamwork, and self-sacrifice. In this phase the men will continue to participate in work projects. Work projects vary from painting, moving, yard clean-up, snow removal, etc. These projects are all done on a voluntary basis and are meant to teach work ethic and an others-centered heart. The Arise program uses work projects to instill in the men something that addiction took away. EPHESIANS 4:28 says, “He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.”
    • Men will have one 20 minute phone call every Sunday to immediate family only. An additional call can be requested if the resident has children that are of speaking age or if he is married. The additional calls are made on Wednesday evening. Each man is eligible for 2 visits a month. One is a “Day visit”, in which the men can leave on Saturday at 11am and be back at Arise by 8pm, or Sunday from 10am then back at Arise by 5pm. One visit is a “church visit," in which the man's family would come to church and sit with him and then after church could go out to lunch. The resident would need to be back at Arise by 2pm. Each of these visits need to be requested and approved by staff in advance.
    • In Phase 2, everyone participates in our 45 minute workout program. This is a program where you are pushed and encouraged to go beyond what you think you are able. The program is tailored to each individual. We take age, injury, and health into consideration.
    • Each man will be assigned a “prayer partner.” A prayer partner is a relationship that is deeper than a passing hello. He will get to know a leader in our church community, sharing life with him and allowing him to become a mentor in the resident's life.
  • Four-month Work Phase
    • Phase 3 is when the men go into the community and apply for work. Each man in 3rd phase will get a job (full time is recommended) and they will learn financial responsibility. Upon earning their first paycheck, each man will be responsible to pay Arise $75/week for rent. Each resident will be administered an Arise flip cell phone with no internet capability. There will be no internet accessibility for the entire program unless monitored and approved by staff. Each resident will be required to pay his own phone bill.
    • Each man will do a mandatory 6-8 week financial literacy course. It teaches the fundamentals of banking, saving and spending. Everyone in 3rd phase will open a basic savings account and be accountable for their finances. Personal vehicles are permitted to get back and forth to work.
    • Visits in 3rd phase are the same as 2nd phase with the option to combine both visits into an overnight. Overnights are with parents or wife only (marriage certificate must be submitted).
    • Upon completion of this phase each resident will leave the Arise home and prepare for the 4th and final phase. They will receive a certificate of completion for the residential portion of the program.
  • Three-month Transitional Phase
    • The purpose of this phase is to help residents transition successfully back into the community and their life. The transition phase can be done at one of our two transitional homes in Machias; however, that is not a requirement. Residents have the option to rent locally or return to their home and become apart of the church community there to transition.
    • The requirement for a man to successfully complete Arise is that he must stay nicotine, drug, and alcohol-free.
    • He must remain sexually pure in any relationships outside of marriage.
    • Regular church attendance is required, as well as involvement in some form of ministry and helping others.
    • Random urinalysis will be administered while in this phase, refusal will be considered a failed test.
    • It is required to be gainfully employed and that all financial responsibilities are met.
    • If at the end of this phase the individual has satisfied the requirements of transition, they will receive a public graduation at Machias Christian Fellowship and we will celebrate victory in Jesus. 1 Corinthians 15:58, “Be steadfast, be immovable. Always abounding in the work of the LORD. Knowing that our labor in HIM is never in vain.”

We desire that all would leave our care free from addiction and continuing what they have learned by serving the Lord with their lives.
